When you voice concerns at work about your patients care should the following happen-

you confide in the manager and they then go and break that confidence
you get told that you are "not" a *****

RE: Bullying or not?

I missed this one earlier, but of course that's bullying, and reading stuff like that makes my blood boil!

Actually, I think there are two priorities: looking after the patients and looking after each other.

I wish you every luck in your new job, hopefully they will be a decent and professional group of people to work with. Your former practice sounds like a total bunch of idiots, and if the practice manager is like that then no wonder the place is the way it is. Terrible way to be when the only priority should be caring for the patients, what a waste of energy!

As if I would tell colleagues before management??!!

The atmosphere was horrific, comments about my work, I was even told that the atmosphere will be better when I was gone. I managed to negotiate a shorter notice period, this was cut even shorter when I received an email in the evening on the weekend to tell me I was being put on gardening leave and not to return to work.

After getting over the initial shock, of this was how my employment of several years was ending, I am now relieved it is all over.

THANK YOU YOUR REPLIES MADE ME REALISE, GAVE ME STRENGTH TO LEAVE X

Yes you are being bullied, very much so, your colleagues sound like my idea of hell to work with and the fact that you complained to management only to be told you should start looking for another job is clear proof of how little you are valued there. Awful situation to be in and I really feel for you, god I can't stand bullies. Look for another job asap is my advice. Best of luck x

RE: Bullying or not?

Breaking confidence - absolute no-no unless there is a discussion with you first...

Managers covering mouths may not be about you so try not to stress about that one..

undermining you in front of colleagues - absolute no-no

talking about you and making fun of you? absolute No-No...

This needs to be addressed asap. go to the manager with EVIDENCE and ask her what the issues are.. if this doesn't sort it out go to her boss and if you feel like they are still being out of order ask if you can have a meeting to discuss but bring a representative with you. do you really want to work in a place like this?!

do NOT put up with it

here if you need support ok?

Talking about you and making fun of you are unacceptable but sadly it seems to be all too common in this job.

I feel for you as it can be a very lonely experience, particularly when there are managers involved and if the rest of the team get on ok with said managers. All I can say is I have been there and I ended up leaving... there was no-one more senior I could confide in and I knew that bringing up my unhappiness directly would be pointless and word would soon get around the entire practice only it would be twisted somehow to reflect negatively on me.

I'm not saying leaving is always the best option (especially if there is someone more senior who is not involved who you can talk to first) but ultimately you have to put your well being and happiness first. If you wouldn't stay in a personal relationship or friendship with someone who acts this way then shouldn't be putting up with it in the workplace where you spend 40hours of your waking week...
