When I did NPL at the vet school, I was told it was about taking a handover for the theatre team either to ICU or to wards to recover. You had to think what information would I require from the theatre team in order to continue the care of this patient into the recover phase. Examples - procedure performed, any complications during anaesthesia, hypothermia - do I require to warm patient, does the patient require pain relief and at what time along with any other medication, Do I need to reverse neuro-muscular blocking, domitor etc and the list goes on. Hope this helps.
