We start our on call days at 1pm and work until 7pm we do three nights in a row one week and two the following we makes it easier if had a busy night as you can sleep in the next morning

the holiday pay at one practice i worked at to another was totally differerant. one was hours. the other was days and half days.

regarding the overtime pay. this is now a government procedure set in stone. where if you work x number of hours over three months. thus 12 weeks. so say its £60. and you were to take holiday for two weeks you would also be entitled to normal holiday pay + £10 as this would be classed of what you would normally earn on top of your normal hours.

Hi PSA-David,

Thank you for replying. I was a little confused about holiday pay. Our staff get an allocated amount of days off per year depending on how many days a week they work. We have never done anything about pay for the holiday days. Does your practice work on hourly holiday?.

both of my previous practices worked us to have a half day following a day on call.

we were paid a stand by fee, and then hours for the time we worked when in practice.

if you are going to pay out of hours as overtime, you have to consider that this now affects the pay received when on holiday.

for instance if there is a build of 10 hours over three months. prior to holidays being taken. then now the employee would have to pay a percentage onto of the holiday pay dependent on the length of time off.
