When I sat my exams, me and my friends all got the same tasks and we were all on different days and all over the country x

Nothing too taxing! Mayo-Hagar needle holders, gelpi retractors, gillies needle holders, babcocks, allis tissue forceps, metzembams, mosquito forceps, spencer wells etc etc etc. Please excuse my spelling!!

Trouble is on that one they can pick whatever they like.

I got Insulin, urine dip stick, microscope (this was an extra lab task as radiography machine had broken), hand washing/blood sample, open gloving/instruments on grid, fluids, bandage palmer cut on left fore paw and ayres t-piece.

heather if it makes you feel better I also picked a 2ml syringe, we never do blood collection with anything smaller unless its just for a BGC or something like that. on that task tho the only shaded area is the hand hygeine bit to ensure you have followed all the steps to wash your hands properly.

dont worry, Im sure you did better than u think, although im remaining negative because then if I pass i will be REALLY happy!

Both me & the other girls that I know all picked a 2ml syringe for the hand washing/setting up for blood sample task. Our thoughts were that 1.5mls (or 1.3, cant quite remember!) would be needed to fill the EDTA tube anyway as the tube should be filled to the line, otherwise there will be too much anticoagulant & not enough blood. SO fingers crossed for everyone that picked the same!

Dont worry about it, what's done is done I say. I had mine on Sat at the Barony. I missed stuff too - i didnt put cotton wool inbetween the toes on my bandaging task, i somehow managed to type the wrong weight on my fluid calculation and ran out of time trying to redo it, and like you picked a 2ml syringe in the hand washing task - its what we use at work so i just automatically selected that one - its better to take more blood than needed rather than too little and have to take more - thats my reasoning anyway! Wish i could just know the results now...

There are only 6 minute tasks now, the 12 min ones got stopped. The 'new style' practicals came about in 2007 I think it was. Whereas before when you would need to pass 1 practical per room i.e rad/medical/surgical etc (is that right?), you now have to pass five out of 8.

Good luck for Sunday and to all who are going through this. Very scary, take lots of deep breaths to help keep calm. Mine where on a Sunday too which I think is a little mean. Im sure you will be fine and the feeling of being qualified makes it all worth while. Its amazing how quickly the exam flies too.

not totally true, it depends on the task whether it is a 6 min or 12 min one.

I got 2 labs and 2 radiography, 2 medical............ and i got 2 surgical........

We are talking about the final exams to become a RVN are't we? I get so confused now between ANA, vNP, 1st 2nd yr students etc

I'm sitting at the Barony on Sat too - soooooo scared! I hate people watching me! Does anyone know how many tasks from each section you get - i.e. how many radiography, bandaging etc.
