My advice would be not to mention them and just to keep them covered up at the interview. It should be irrelevant if they aren't visible. I worked with a vet nurse with a whole sleeve up one arm and she just had to put up with wearing long sleeves even in summer. A bit inconvenient but worth it if you get the job x

Not V4P but there's 4 of us at my practice who have tattoos on the nursing side and a couple of the receptionists have them too. Mine aren't visible unless I choose to show them (back and lower leg - my own choice) but its wrists and arms for the other girls there's never been any issues at work - 2 of us have multiple piercings too. The veterinary industry has appeared much more accommodating and accepting to me than other industries!

Thanks all for your replies I'm not so worried now. Good to know people with tattoos are accepted into the veterinary industry I've had a few interviews and I've always mentioned my tattoos and they have been really frowned upon and not allowed at all.

I work at vets4pets and have a visible tattoo on my wrist that I could cover up with a long sleeve top but don't, especially in the summer. My boss has never called me out on it despite some clients even asking me what it meant. We also have other members of staff with visible tattoos and piercings that have never had a problem but as mentioned previously I do think it depends on the JVP.

I work at V4P and have visible tattoos as well as piercings and stretched ears - I wear long sleeves but that was my choice, my JVP never asked me to and I usually push them up to my elbows anyway so it defeats the purpose. We have a receptionist with visible tattoos and an SVN and VCA with tattoos as well (not to the same coverage as mine). It really is all down to the JVP I think, I don't remember seeing anything in my contract about tattoos but there is something in there about hair colours and styles. Although I think that is also down to the JVP because I had what soem would consider an abnormal style and colour when I started there in October.

The V4P I locum in, both JVP's (vet and nurse) have visible tattoos and piercings...
