I qualified a few months ago, and am considering a bit of a break from veterinary nursing.
I don't like where I work currently due to various reasons, and feel that I am loosing my love of veterinary nursing due to this.
I can't seem to find

RE: Taking a break from vet nursing?
I am very tempted to hand in my notice on Monday, but don't have another job lined up yet!
ouch! is it really that bad? Unless you have a bit of brass in the bank or you can line another job up really quickly try and hang on a little bit longer and find your next job so you aren't without an income- I have done this myself and its really hard. Feel free to PM me if you would like to talk.

RE: Taking a break from vet nursing?
What about looking into equine nursing and tie in both of your interests? There are a few equine practices in that area
I have thought about this, unfortunately I don't think there are any vacancies at the moment. I ended up being a manager of a local bakery/cafe that I had had a Saturday job at! It was a great way of improving my customer service skills and getting a lot of people management experience (I was thrown in at the deep end though)!

I did this job for 10 months and was desperate to get back into nursing - we train and work so hard to become qualified and I wasn't getting the same job satisfaction as I do with nursing. So i started looking at RVN roles in my local area. I ended up being put forward for a head nurse role at a lovely local practice and that's where I am now. I felt under qualified for a head nurse role, but the practice wanted me for my management experience. I love my job now and I'm glad i had a break.

Whatever you do, you have to do what's right for you. I found it easy to keep up with my CPD whilst having my break, I still received journals through the post and did as many online webinars etc as I could!

Good luck!
I qualified a couple of weeks ago. I started locuming this Monday just gone and I was terrified! However, staff understand that you are newly qualified and understand your nerves.

With locuming, it is scary as you do not know what their protocols are and you are terrified of doing anything wrong! Nothing can stop how you feel. However, you have nothing to lose. If you don't like the job then you are not obliged to go back :) You can look elsewhere.

hope this helps you :) x
