I havent been asked for my views or surveys l replied on the other thread my feelings l like Shams and Sals comments actually until l read Shams comment l just saw the other post l learnt a bit more here loads actually about the idiot idea sadly you 2 talking sense will be ignored by the politicos.

I am damn sure there are lots of companies 'waiting in the wings' as you put it - but offering their services for free, absolutely no chance because this is the new veterinary growth area offering a bit of learning (relevant or irrelevant) and a lot of teaching grandmother to suck eggs. This is where the money is these days - telling somebody (who often has a deal more practical experience and ability than the instructor) how they should be doing their job.There is some useful CPD out there but hell there are a lot of 'essential' and 'filler' courses that impart very little and cost a small fortune. Its a racket.

My heart sinks every single time the RCVS makes a proposal because I know even before I have read it I am going to end up shafted in some way.

I don't pretend to know absolutely everything about my job - I don't believe anybody can say that there isn't anything else that they need to learn but I would prefer to learn what I need not that which is dictated.

Maybe the future for me is teaching stress management again - practising safe stress since 1994 -special rates for veterinary staff, group bookings taken I am sure I can knock up some sort of certificate on the laptop even with my limited computer knowledge and I am sure we can come to some agreement re the number of hours it would be worth.

(and yes I really am qualified to teach stress management)
