I understand health and safety issues etc. Recently my sister thought she'd found a breakdown recovery that would happily take the dog should

RE: Recovery vehicles NOT allowing dogs

LOL I know Jill.....It's a nightmare though....us nurses HAVE to get changed to leave SATH!!!! :(

RE: Recovery vehicles NOT allowing dogs

Your comment re UoL made me laugh Steph - wasn't so long ago there were dogs under the desks on my corridor! :)

RE: Recovery vehicles NOT allowing dogs
I think the recovery companies should allocate set drivers and cabs that will take pets and owners, like when you book a taxi.
In an ideal world yes that would happen....unfortunately in reality it just wont. A lot of the "major" companies use local recovery firms especially for towing purposes and they tend to be small operations with 2 or 3 trucks (if they are lucky) and the same number of drivers so what happens if only 2 are working and booth of them are allergic? Wouldn't you rather be collected and taken somewhere safe quicker or be stuck on the hard shoulder of a busy motorway or on a country lane for longer where the risk of something hitting you is greater?

Yes it's not ideal but unfortunately we don't live in an ideal world.

RE: Recovery vehicles NOT allowing dogs

I think the recovery companies should allocate set drivers and cabs that will take pets and owners, like when you book a taxi.

I work on a university campus (not really the same I know, but bear with me) and we have to get changed out of our work clothes if we are leaving campus and if we are going into one of the "non-animal" areas of the campus because of the risk of other peoples allergies

RE: Recovery vehicles NOT allowing dogs

My husband works for a recovery company, apparently they aren't allowed to transport pets in the cab due to allergies that another passenger may be at risk of. i agree though I wouldn't be happy leaving my pet in the car during the journey.
