Years ago (and in New Zealand..) I used to be able to get a solution for taking the rust off instruments. It wasn't something you used all the time, just used as a treatment if you started getting little rust spots on them or in the box joints

RE: Rust remover for instruments

Give it a go, it works wonders with dull, stained instruments.

RE: Rust remover for instruments

I never knew this stuff existed - and there was I using jewellers rouge (does the job well but not an easy fix)

RE: Rust remover for instruments

You're welcome, it's magic stuff!

RE: Rust remover for instruments

YES !!!! It's a liquid you dilute, soak the instruments, it stinks but the instruments look like new! I think you can get it from Vetisco or baileyinstruments.co.uk sell the smaller 500ml bottles.

RE: Rust remover for instruments

There are different products out there, but they usually require a little more elbow grease to remove rust spots. They are called instrument reconditioners and come in powder form. Here is a link to one of the types - http://www.trycare.co.uk/dental-products/infection-control/instrument-cleaning-and-disinfection/exeussc. Im pretty sure you can source this or something very similar from most major suppliers though.

Good luck with your search
