I have just qualified 2 months ago (yay!) and I now have a review with my employers in a month or so. I have some questions I would like to ask them such as CPD allowance, new pay and future goals, but are there any other questions

RE: Work Review

That's good information thank you :)

Review has been and gone. I'm relatively happy about it except that I would like to do the ECC course but to them its not a priority :/

RE: Work Review

Hello,

From the sounds of things, you have the right idea about how to go into this meeting, certainly with the big 3.

It may be worth, when discussing future goals, not only to outline your own goals, but also to ask what the practice expects of you, e.g. do they want you to start additional nurse clinics, begin running puppy parties, or give you responsibility for a particular area of the practice? (In my previous job, I was responsible for mainting tidiness and stock in the sterile room, ICU and isolation, while other nurses were responsible for the wards, another for the lab, drug stock etc.)

Pay range is tricky, partly as each practice is different, and it depends on what they've been paying you as a student, and how much the other qualified nurses are being paid. Have a look for local RVN job ads that indicate a pay range, and this might give you an idea of what other local employers are offering.

Obviously, you must be paid at least the minimum wage, though you may be able to discuss the possibility of being paid the living wage (as set out by the Living Wage Foundation, not the government, who appear to have just raised and renamed the minimum wage).

Hope that helps!

:)
