So I have recently moved to Belgium to be with my partner. I have been looking for nurse jobs and finding there aren't that many. I knew that in the beginning so I've been lucky to have 2 interviews! At my second interview they made it very

RE: RVN's in Belgium or Holland!!also other animal jobs related to nursing

Thanks guys :) thats a good idea! If that's the work-cultural norm there then this is going to be tricky, if only you could find a

1) English vet that has emigrated and would want a nurse working for them as they're aware of the skill set or

2) Belgian vet who has worked in the UK and also aware as above...

But I don't know how you go about finding one.... Maybe Arlo would let you post a message on VetSurgeon.co.uk?

RE: RVN's in Belgium or Holland!!also other animal jobs related to nursing

Hi Abby,

The only knowledge I have of veterinary nursing in Belgium is through what my partner has told me. He is from a vet from Belgium and moved to the UK for a better working life. Unfortunately according to him and from speaking to his friends who are also vets it is very common to either not have a nurse at all or if they do then to not use their skills or knowledge.

As you have said there is sadly no recognition of 'assistants' and I have myself had to explain what I do in practice here including IV work, anaesthesia and schedule 3. Practice life sounds very different from what we know here.

Good luck with it - I hope you find something!
