I am newly qualified and am currently quite unhappy at my practice and it's all got a bit much now but in my training contract it stated I would need to pay the practice back

RE: STUDENTS PAYING PRACTICE BACK?

Hey Lucy ,

I have only come across such clauses in practices which paid for the student qualification. Did your practice pay for your studies? If so its only fair to finish the agreed service time or pay them back the %.

However its never good to leave in bad terms veterinary industry is very small because you never know what tomorrow brings. Have you ever tried to talk to your bosses about what's bothering you at the practice maybe? if not give it a try.

I am very sorry for your situation hey but at the end of do what makes you happy. You cant work where you not happy.

RE: STUDENTS PAYING PRACTICE BACK?

I left as soon as I had qualified due to circumstance. And yes I had to pay the practice back. What they did for me was split it into 2 payments, so I only got half my wage each month of my notice and they took it directly back. Was a lean few months!! But I became a locum straight away and gained soooooo much experience. Whatever's right for you!

RE: STUDENTS PAYING PRACTICE BACK?

I unfortunately had to leave my training practice soon after qualifying. Not leaving on the best of terms, but they still offered for me to pay them back in instalments. Before I started my training there I signed a contract (aside from my usual employment contact) to state that I would pay the money back. it isn't the most ideal to leave as soon as you have qualified but I have come out the otherside and found it actually helped me alot to gain confidence and experience in a different practice, having worked at the same one for 4 years.

You are more than welcome to PM me if you want x
