Keep copies of everything.

A family friend of mine is not in the veterinary profession but found herself in a similar situation when an unhappy client launched what can only be described as a hate campaign against her. Its a horrible thing to happen to anyone and i hope it is resolved quckly for you, in my friends case the evidence she kept really helped.

seek advice from VDS definitely - but also if both yourself and the vet are working for a corporate make sure that HR are closely involved and have a good read of the employee handbook - you may have corporate legal support? against an individual in cases of defamation. Log everything, screenshot everything and note any verbal interaction, any threats of violence should be reported to the police and log number recorded. I hope things resolve for you

Oh my goodness that is horrendous, I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm afraid I don't really have anything constructive to say that others haven't already suggested but wanted to show support, hang on in there and stick with the appropriate legal channels and vent to us on here any time, you know the VN community will support any of our own who have been unfairly treated!

hope you are ok, Facebook is fab for furious clients to spread anger and hate, recently saw a post that was deleted from the vet nurse chatter page, the client was opening slagging off the practice and threatening to 'torch the place' and others were jumping in on it.

Good to hear that facebook has done this. Pleasantly surprised to hear that. Some other internet companies take weeks to do something or just refuse outright.

Hi Anon,

I'm guessing if this has already gone to the RCVS that the VDS has been involved? If so, then I would suggest approaching them for further advice. They cover RVN's as well in practice, so make sure you seek legal advice - whatever has happened. Sounds like the ex-client is not going to let this lie, so you & the vet involved may have to seek further action to prevent this deteriorating & affecting the practice's image & reputation.

My god, that sounds horrendous. Keep evidence of everything. Sounds like you have done the right thing and contacted the police.

you need to contact the BSAVA if your a member and get some advice. as this sounds a little more involved in just an upset client. as I can begin to imagine what the complaint would be or what the photo content would include either.
