If so, latest news is that I've just seen the upgraded website for the first time on our test server, so we're getting very close now.

RE: Cpd query

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Cpd query

Thank you for all your advice.
Hello,

i attended a first aid (for humans) training day the other week with St. John's ambulance, can I record this as cpd? I'm not sure but one of the vets at my practice says I should record it, I'm just unsure if it classes as cpd as its not directly animal/profession related?

any advice would be helpful, thanks. [/quote]

sarahjones92 My understanding is that anything you learn which helps your professional competence in practice is valid, and it does not have to concern the veterinary care of animals. It could be learning about some aspect of the business for example. So I would think that being able to offer clients first aid is valid CPD, though as Cameron Norsworthy says, you might like to confirm with the RCVS.

While I am here, a shameless plug for the next VetNurse upgrade. I've been saying this is 'coming soon' for a long time, but keep getting delayed by the discovery of various technicalities that need ironing out. But I think we are probably weeks away now.

In addition to being mobile friendly, the next upgrade will include 'Claim CPD', a button on the site which allows you to record anything you learn here (for example when you ask questions in this forum or read a news story) and claim it towards your annual CPD requirement.

There'll be a lot of other improvements around here at the same time. I can't wait to reveal all!

RE: Cpd query

http://www.rcvs.org.uk/education/cpd-for-vns/#counts

This is a link to the RCVS website and should direct you to their page regarding CPD eligibility.

"What counts as CPD?

Broadly speaking, any activities you undertake in order to further your professional competence as part of a planned development programme can be counted towards your CPD."

Even if it doesn't count towards your CPD because it's not classed as being 'veterinary-related' it is definitely a very useful experience to add to your CV and will be a useful feature to include should you apply for new jobs elsewhere as it's always beneficial to have a certified first-aider on the premises in any situation/workplace.

Hope you find this useful, but perhaps contacting the RCVS would be a good idea to confirm whether or not it can be counted towards your CPD.
