We were able to look up the chip info on Petlog that's how we knew it wasn't registered and it provided the veterinary practice info that the chip was supplied to.

New trick... log out of petlog online then log back in register chip, seems to work every time i try although you do have to log out and in again for each new chip.

Hope it works for you guys as well

Hi Robyn, if you email petlog if you can't reach them on the phone they may ask a nice helpful agent to call you back and spend about an hour registering the chips on the phone with you. They rang our branches on Friday to log them with us because they are aware so many vets practices are struggling and they want to help. :-) always a positive somewhere my friends xx Petlog.admin@thekennelclub.org.uk

every box of microchips have a batch number that will be registered to which wholesale company they are sold to, you can the contact the wholesale company to see whom they sold that batch too within a certain month. they then can attempt to help you

however every tracer box has a form that has to be faxed to the company which registers exactly what microchips that have just been delivered. if its tracer they can tell you exactly what vets had that box of chips

took in 8 chocolate fairy cakes (they were on offer at local bakers) so enough for everybody and 3 extras as I am never sure when a work experience or two is going to pop up that I dont know about - when I left at 6.30pm there were 7 left and that was after I had mine! even cake didn't make things any sweeter

I agree the whole microchip thing has been a nightmare, despite the fact that as a company (and everyone else for that matter) we have been advertising the need for owners to get their dogs chipped and details up to date for about 2 years, we still got clients saying they knew nothing about it until Wednesday 6th April. I chipped so many dogs this week from puppies to the oldest dog being 18!! All owners have been lovely about the webiste being down though, saying "there not surprised" We have a massive pile of paperwork now though so someone will have a nice office day and lots of coffee, so that they can register them, although we have been trying to register the odd one in the meantime.

We are the swan effect. We have a stack of forms for chips needing registered that only keeps getting bigger (in the space of 2 appointments this afternoon, we chipped 13 dogs!). Site finally worked for us at 4.45 this afternoon and between answering the phone and dealing with clients I managed to register about 30 before we shut. Someone has the fun job of registering the rest of them tomorrow.

The whole microchip issue is getting on my nerves - not being able to register chips, dogs with chips registered to other owners because nobody updated details, dogs with chips where the chip has never been registered, rehomed dogs with foreign chips which have not been registered, no passport or paperwork. Owners getting stroppy because 'dont you realise they have to be done today or they are illegal?' - erm yes but I am already double booked with people telling me exactly the same thing and these are our clients and you are a client at another practice. Owners wanting us to update chip details for them, owners grumbling that they have to pay to update details, people wanting to know how to download a smartphone app to read the chip so they dont have to come in (???), people with multiple dogs (7) moaning like hell that the dog warden wont chip them for free, they cant afford it as on benefits ....

Fed up with people moaning and taking it out on me, it isn't my fault. Life out on reception is very unpleasant at the moment, combine that with other short tempered staff and..... I really didn't want to get out of bed this morning

Does the above mean that you have been successful in registering chips? My stack of unregistered chips is growing by the hour, the petlog telephone number is constantly engaged and when i try to register a chip the site just refreshes back to the main screen.

Do i need to join Ali in the dark corner of the room or is there light to be found by just keep trying throughout the day? Worried boss will return to work and find me buried beneath pile of un registered paperwork!
