Just hope they don't go back on there word 3 months down the line. The guy is coming in tomorrow to have a chat to us for any concerns that we all have I have a few questions but I never know how many is too many. I will definitely not be signing any contract unless I know the ins and outs ive been burned before so not doing it again. Thank you everyone for your help.

Much appreciated.

RE: Medivet

Yeah that is kinda the down side tbh. I've been told that you no longer have to accept a head nurse position but there does have to be an RVN position for you to move into at your TP if you want to stay at the practice you trained in

RE: Medivet

Hi, I worked for Medivet and did my training with them. I'm pretty certain they would still let you do your training (unless anything has changed since I left). I really liked training with them and the lecturers at their college were lovely and really cared about everyone succeeding so I would recommend them as a place to train. One thing I wanted to warn you about though is that they typically move you on to another practice as soon as you qualify if they need a Head Nurse somewhere. That means if you're happy at your own practice (like I was) you may find yourself forced to move on even if you wanted to stay. They rely heavily on Students and tend to only have one qualified nurse (as Head Nurse) per practice. (Except for the larger practices and hospitals). This caused me a lot of grief when I qualified as I didn't want to leave my lovely team, and I didn't feel ready to be a Head Nurse and my only othwr options were to leave or stay on at my TP on my training wage. I left which is a shame really. Check your contract to make sure they can't force you out if you're not planning on going anywhere!

RE: Medivet

No worries :) If theres anything you wanna know feel free.

I think clients were told at the time that the practice had joined because Medivet did a refurb shortly after they took over. The practice had sold to Medivet the year before I started but a lot of clients only seemed to notice when they changed the practice signage about a month after I started.

RE: Medivet

well the vet who has sold the business is I guess the partner in practice, I am looking forward to the change as I feel we need it and there is so much that needs money investing. Do you know if clients will notice the change? sorry all these questions its just good to hear from someone who works for them.

RE: Medivet

Yeah I understand, especially waiting so long :)

They tend to have partnerships so most place will have a vet who is a partner in the practice and the partner just acts as any other practice manager would :) They dont do targets or things like that, they seem pretty happy to just let us get on with things. One of the things I have noticed when visiting other practices is that although we're all Medivets and follow the same protocols every practice is different so I guess although some things will change other things wont.

Training wise they've been really supportive of me.

RE: Medivet

Thank you, I guess because it's taken me 7 years to finally train everything is a massive worry. What is medivet like? Do they have targets Etc?

RE: Medivet

Hey :) I wouldnt worry about your training at all. I have a few students in my class who have become Medivet while training and they've been fine. If you are due to start training during the take over just make sure theyre aware of it and check that your contract is for a student nurse role when they eventually get down to that side of things :)

My practice was already a Medivet when I started so I cant really comment on what the change over is like. As far as I know they tend not put too many changes in place during the first few months anyway.
