Person has rehomed dog from a rescue which sounds like one of those rescues where you foster rather than take on ownership. The keeper of the dog would like to change the details on the chip to the dogs new address and keepers name so in the event the dog does get lost it comes back to them- rescue say no and will not give their permission for this to happen and chip company are unable to amend keepers details without permission from the rescue. The client wants to know where they stand legally and the only advice we can give is take it up with the rescue

i usually have the chips placed under anaesthetic when they are neutered, she isn't getting spayed till July - if i leave it till then are you going to report me? will i get a fine for not having my dog microchipped??

[/quote]

I have had this question asked as well 'will the vet report me if my dog isnt chipped?'

I know it was announced a long time ago that it was going to become mandatory to get your dog chipped and I know a lot of people have ignored it until the last minute but I detect a level of panic in some of the people asking questions now - and I know the information has been put out there but there are still a lot of people who don't understand it for whatever reason and still people who don't really know what a microchip does or its purpose. I predict a very interesting time in the next few weeks. We still have a large number of dogs on our system without a chip number

I see Amazon are still selling them tho so maybe a lot of people have gone down that route? I have had one person ask if they brought in their own chip would we do it for them

As an aside who, out of the nurses on here, is able to produce evidence of their training and competency to implant a microchip? as this is a requirement now. I had been doing microchips for years prior to my previous job. I did get training with the BX years ago (talking mid 90's) but I have absolutely nothing to prove I was trained.

RE: microchips

Best i've had so far was yesterday... i have a 2yr old miniature poodle, do you offer smaller microchips for miniature dogs?
