Just looking for some advice on starting out as a locum please? How you decide on a rate, how you organise being paid/paying tax etc. PM if you want.
Thanks

RE: Starting out as a Locum

Thank you Caro

RE: Starting out as a Locum

You can also go as a Ltd company ask a PROPER ACCOUNTANT FOR ADVICE look for a lovcl one they will give free advice surgeries unlike the spammer up there sophie who is an umbrella company

(I did also ask a few people around me too).

I then decided to sign up with an umbrella company that deal with all the important stuff. I don't earn enough to warrant being going ltd and wasn't confident doing tax etc by myself.

I also spoke to VDS and took out their vet nursing cover for information and advice for myself personally (be aware they don't cover liabily though ,so will not pay any monies if you are sued etc. another plus point for having an umbrella company as they give me liability insurance too).

glad I took the plunge now.

feel free to pm me if you have any questions

RE: Starting out as a Locum

Shame, you just missed our Locum Nurse course!

RE: Starting out as a Locum

Hi!

Rates change depending on experience and area really! And whether you're doing nights etc. There are numerous options you can take eg Self Employed or working under an umbrella. These are companies that sort out your tax, national insurance etc and make sure everything you're doing is legal.

If you need any advice feel free to email me s.millar@purosearch,com I work with tonnes of locums all over the country :)
