unfortunately this does not surprise me. We had clients turn up many times with bitches that had had puppies stuck half hanging out for half the night just because they did not want to pay out of hours! I really wish something was done to regulate breeding as I have seen some right horrors! :(

We don't see many pregnant dogs, today had a 15kg springer x cocker spaniel have 10 pups. She delivered 6 herself but was so exhausted required a Caesarean. seems she probably started whelping 10 hours before they called us and the live pups she'd had were absolutely freezing when they arrived. thankfully mum is well and 9 pups are healthy. added to this she's only been on mince/rice and skimmed milk with a little dog food!

My previous practice needed that also but never got anything sorted I'm afraid. Really frustrates me that people breed animals without researching first!
