Apart from the "Pink Bible" (!) I don't have any books to recommend. Have you had your CC training/induction? The college should have given you notes etc on how to support and assess your student's progress. One thing I would stress is getting yourself familiar with the NPL and knowing how to help your SVNs get the most out of it without having to overload themselves with even more work. e.g. cross referencing. Also looking on the C&G website for updates on any changes to the exams, especially the OSCE tasks!

Keeping yourself updated with the Occupational Standards might be worth a look too just so you know what the SVN is expected to know in each area.

Try and schedule time with your students to have 1-2-1 to discuss their progress and the NPL, also when they are given assignments from their colleges too. I know this is difficult, especially if you are in a smaller practice like I have been, trying to ensure that time is really hard but very important. It gives them the opportunity to tell you if they are struggling with any tasks and doing this privately as not to cause embarrassment or knock their confidence. I have also in the past, created my own revision tasks for them e.g. little quizzes or anatomy images and they have to fill in the blanks! Also drug calculations/drip rates etc have been useful! You can use this time to plan their tasks and give them a timeframe to work from, this will keep them focused instead of being "drowned" in day to day things. Try to keep record of these discussions too so you have a reference for the next meeting.

That's probably not helped you at all! sorry! I'm sure there are others on here that might be able to help you with regards to any other resources!

Good Luck
