I'm currently in my final year of the RVC diploma. I, too, have really enjoyed it but have found it pretty stressful balancing study with work! Having said that I love the course structure and the access you get to journals etc is amazing (as the RVC is a university you have access to so much content online). I've been really impressed with their teaching in regards to professional writing. I did my VN diploma through Hadlow college and was left lacking in skills to critically analyse research papers, search for evidence based answers or write in a scientific style. The RVC have taught me all those skills (something I never thought I'd be able to do!) and made me a better nurse because of it. The support is also great.

I decided to go for the RVC course over the RCVS one as the RCVS is not a university they have to sub out the course to various colleges. For me this was too much like my Hadlow experience. The RVC dictate their content and structure, they are not bound by the RCVS and you get all the benefits of having a course run by university.

im thinking about studying this course. Can you tell me what the difference is between this one and the advanced diploma that the rcvs do please?

It's definitely hard work and it's difficult to find the time for studies around working full time but I honestly feel that it has improved my knowledge and therefore my nursing practice. I particularly liked being able to pick which modules I wanted to study in the second year. Just be prepared not to expect lots of notes from the tutors. The learning is very much self-directed.

Enjoy!
