My current practice routinely used iodine as prep for surgery and this seems to be something they are reluctant to change! I've always used hibi except for cases nearer the eyes wtc and am wondering

RE: Hibi scrub vs iodine for pre surgical scrub

Chlorhexidine is cationic (positively charged) and Iodine is anionic (negative) so it is generally assumed that using them in combination could lead to a reduction in duration of efficacy.

RE: Hibi scrub vs iodine for pre surgical scrub

James Colver Cert.

The ideal would be to remove gross contamination with a solution of 4% chlorhexidine and water and then to subsequently apply (wih friction) a solution of chlorhexidine and isopropyl alcohol (combined) on to clean skin.
