Don't panic, I thought I'd failed mine, and i thought that all the way to results day. I even kept looking through the practical exams stations and tried to think if I'd done every task and I ended up passing so don't think like that. Think positive xx

when I did mine in October it was just the dose that you write on the label. You just had to select the correct label with all the legal requirements

I've just done mine this morning! On the dispensing task can anyone tell me if the patient details are already on the label? I wrote the drug details on but don't remember checking the name!!!

Breathe, take time, you have time before you go into the station to read the task, read it throughly and have 6 minutes in stations. If you think you've finished before time has finished double check everything. The minute you leave the station you can't go back in so try and use the time giveN. In my first one I left few minutes early and forgot about something but couldn't do anything about it Once I left station.

forget about everyone else and concentrate on your own station.

Sterile water before to monitor for signs of coughing in case your in the trachea/lungs, having given sterile water your less likely to introduce bacteria. Once you've confirmed your in the oesophagus/stomach, of course you can give tap water because that's what they drink! :) Hope now that's lodged in your memory and you worry no more. x

Yes you need to flush with STERILE water before feeding and TAP water after :)
I spoke a lot in mine, that way if the examiner doesn't see it because she is writing then they can hear all about what you are doing. It probably makes no difference but it certainly helped me. In the tube feeding task I started telling her about why I was doing it, she looked a bit fed up haha.

another question, in the tube feeding task, we are supposed to flush the tube with water BEFORE feeding aren't we? I've got myself confused!

Don't panic, I passed my in October. I travelled all the way down to aldershort which is a good 7hr drive from up north! Hence why I went early to check venue, traffic etc.

I arrived 1hr early, to familiarise myself with area incase I got lost and where the toilets were. I took 4 pairs of gloves, I also wore my fob watch and pen and took scissor in my pocket to feel more. 'at home' during the exam.

at least 30 mins before. Take 2 pairs of surgical gloves with you. You can take a pen if you want as you need to write your initials on a sheet of stickers for each examiner. You can if you wish take a bottle of water with you but you need to remove the label. Good luck and just keep calm and you will be fine.
