I'm a big fan of Hills m/d for cats that won't budge the weight on high carb diet foods.

They are obligate carnivores afterall. Feeding (commercially not home prepared) Raw I've seen promising results in too.

How long has she been on it? I think our rep said some cats seem to gain a little weight initially before they start losing. As cats have differing calorie requirements according to lifestyle/activity etc, I consider the recommended feeding amount to be a starting point only, so I generally reduce the amount by 10% if they haven't lost any after 4-6 weeks.

I know hypothyroidism is fairly rare in cats; but would be nice to rule out medical conditions for an overweight cat. Also, is it an older pet? is the laziness a recent thing, possibly due to arthritis, for example?

he is down nearly 1/2 kilo now from a massive 8kg (visits numerous neighbours who all feed him and supplements with wildlife)
