we have this one - fairly idiot proof as long as it has plenty of water to drink.

I like the little sister autoclaves as in the little sister mk one - still making these in India I think - again there wasn't a lot that you could do to one of these that would stop it working (except not giving it enough water)

http://www.eickemeyer.co.uk/Hygiene-and-Sterilisation/Autoclaves/MELAG-Autoclave-MELAtronic-23-23-EN.html have used one of these before - did the job well, fairly easy to maintain

if you are only doing one run a week - the floor standing tardis types are very good - they take a good amount in one load

RE: Autoclave Advise

Oh and if anyone could comment on whether or not we really need a vacuum one....?

RE: Autoclave Advise

Our autoclave has finally bitten the dust this morning after 15 years.... would also really appreciate people's comments on any autoclave you may have purchased in the last couple of years as we are quite bamboozled by the variety?

We actually only use ours maybe once a week so it doesn't get much use but needs to do the job well and dry things properly/. I never did get on with the Burtons Autoclaves!! I found they needed refilled far too often and we had more problems than cycles!

My personal favourite is the Little Sister, unfortunately, I'm not sure on price but it's a hardy wee thing and I find it doesn't need as much maintenance as the Burton's machines. I think it's quick cycle is about 20 minutes?

http://www.eschmann.co.uk/infection-control/autoclaves/show/little-sister-ses-2010

I'm now working elsewhere so can't really check all the stats for you but hopefully a few others on here will shed some light on their autoclave experiences!
