I'm particularly interested in surgical nursing and wondering if anyone has recently or is currently doing the Diploma?
I was originally looking at doing the whole thing but cost and time could be

RE: DipAVN 2015 Help!!!

Hi Steph!

How much time would you say you spent on the course each week? I am also considering the course, but Myerscough is a fair drive away from me, but I do really like the idea of the contact weekends! How did you find the tutors whilst you were away from the site?

Do you know if the course can be flexible.. ie extended if you are struggling to fit it in with working full time and other commitments?

Sorry to ask you.. but I couldn't find a relevant contact email on their website!

Thanks!

RE: DipAVN 2015 Help!!!

Hi

I would be interested to hear any information you gathered from them too if that is ok?! I am also considering Dip AVN but either at Harper Adams which is slightly closer (2 hours 30) or Myerscough which is further away but I like the idea of the contact weekends and that you can get an example of the Bloom learning environment from their website which gives me more of an idea of what to expect!

Thanks!

RE: DipAVN 2015 Help!!!

Thankyou!

I just feel I will not be able to manage all the work! But that may be because I am so confused by it all!

Did you do the whole Diploma? I am more interested in Surgical nursing but on the other hand I like all the other modules too ha. Dont know whether to try do 1 module and see how I go or just jump all in. I dont know if Myerscough allow individual modules or not. I have emailed them for more info.

Thanks again!

Why do you think that time will be against you? You complete it over a 2 1/2 year period starting Sept 2016 now. I can understand why cost can be against you but you may be able to apply for bursaries etc to help.

To break down the modules:

Year 1 :

IT research skills (1/2 module - completed Sept to Dec just assignment marked)

Applied Anatomy and physiology (1 module - completed Sept to June, assignment and exam)

Nursing Care (1 module - completed Sept to June, assignment and exam)

Law and Ethics ( 1/2 module - completed Jan to June, assignment only)

Year 2:

This can be a bit confusing, you pick 3 out of the following 5 modules to complete, all have an assignment, written exam and OSCE:

Surgical nursing,

medical nursing

diagnostic imaging

anaesthesia

theatre practice.

This will gain you the qualifications DipHECVN (NOT the DipAVN)

Year 3:

integrative project - literature review assignment and viva

This is the RCVS part and will get you the DipAVN (blue badge)

You have to complete all of it (year 2 - 3 modules out of 5) to get your qualification

if you give them a shout at Myerscough they will talk you through it if you want
