Vet direct sell a digital one that reads within 5 seconds called Digi-flash. Have been using it for a while and it seems to be fast and accurate. Think it costs around 6.99

This will sound silly, but our vet swears by a Peppa Pig brand of electronic thermometer - they're just as quick as the HS brand and don't have the fever alarm. I don't know how they compare in price however.

I just had a look at what was available on amazon - you can pick up children's flexible tip thermometers quite cheaply, if you're ok putting up with the "fever alarm" you get
