I also think your doing the right thing not using the crate as they should not be used as punishment. Try interactive toys as a chewing alternative instead. You can buy a Kong quest and fill this with dog meat, put this in the freezer and you have turned it a chew that will last many hours rather than only a couple of hours.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

If your dog is upset/stressed/anxious about something; chewing is a powerful stress reliever and will also offer good physical and mental stimulation. Most products designed to address anxiety are good, but are certainly not the answer on their own. These products work better in conjunction with good training.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Talking generally about destructive chewing, the key is to deter and prevent inappropriate chewing and move your dog onto appropriate chewing.
