With older models, scales were often 0-60 for both scales so it was important that you indicated which you read first and as standard it is horizontal first. When sending a slide to an external lab, it is important that not only do you advise of the vernier scale reading, but you also indicate which side the label was positioned (left or right side as this does vary from lab to lab as to how they position the slide) and what objective lens you used. These will all change the overall position of the object of interest.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;For OSCEs, it doesnt matter which way around you do them, as long as you indicate clearly when you write it down, which is horizontal and which is vertical.&lt;/p&gt;
