Went shockingly! I fell to pieces I can't count many that I couldve passed on. The areas I feel I failed on though we're not major points (not in a dark grey box) but I just wondered if anyone know how harsh they

RE: I've just done my osces :( ..

Well done! That must of been such a great feeling! :))!

I hope so as there were only small pointers that I messed up none of the major bits i don't think but I still think they could've lead up to a massive fail as they were still quite important :( who knows! and aha! I hope so! It's not even been a week and I'm climbing the walls! So annoying! Feels like it was forever ago! Turns out i passed all stations, most with 100%

just goes to show your fuzzy head sometimes does know what it is doing and you never know till the results are through.

You can miss some things out if they are not grey you will only fail then if most of the others got this point.

6 weeks wait will be over before you know it. x

RE: I've just done my osces :( ..

Mine were at Myerscough in Preston. It is totally the nerves, we can all do the tasks without a problem in practice and that makes it so much more frustrating! x

RE: I've just done my osces :( ..

In MYF on the Sunday, you? I went to bed at half 8! Aha! Yeah I keep bringing bits up and some of the tasks come up at work like as a normal routine - and it kills me when I do them perfectly at work I just don't understand why I messed up so badly in the osces! Its so upsetting! I got home and had a bath, takeaway and a bottle of prosecco to try and calm down! Still wittering on about them at work now though and it seems like such a long long wait! x

RE: I've just done my osces :( ..

Thanks ladies! It's lovely to know im not the only one that made little mistakes that were something silly! Amazing how perfectly you work in practice but in that instance it's awful! I'm much better now about the whole ordeal I was a wreck afterwards and the monday. It's still horrible to wait so long and I'm hoping if I need to retake that i can get in ASAP as I don't want to wait too long! like you guys said, if I do retake it'll be better as I know what to expect! Ah! What a shame to have to prove how good we are by going through this! Oh well! nice to hear everyone elses side of things! Just hope they were lenient on us all! Urrrgh!

RE: I've just done my osces :( ..

Hi,

I did mine the first weekend in October too and it was so nerve wracking! Sprayed my drip line up the cupboard door and then managed to twang a glove off in the air when closed gloving...not terribly hopeful!! They must allow for nerves, all twelve of us were shaking!

I forgot on a few tasks to ask for restraint, it isn't a dark grey shaded area but in people's experience are they harsh with this?

I'm sure you'll have done much better than you think

It is done now and if you have to resit, at least you know what to expect.

With regards to how harsh they are, I really don't know, I think that is dependant on each individual examiner. They do take nerves into account though.

I came away from mine thinking I had failed spectacularly but it turned out I had passed. Try not to worry too much, it's not the end of he world if you didn't do it this time. You will be much more calm, collected and prepared for the next if that is the case

RE: I've just done my osces :( ..

absolutely its not the end of the world I sat mine also at the weekend there and was my third time. The first time I was an absolute nervous wreck. The second time I only just missed out on passing and this time just gone there I was totally on top of my nerves and was fine. Once you know the set up and what to expect it is much better. Good luck to all that sat the osce

RE: I've just done my osces :( ..

Hi,

I really feel for you as I had my OSCE weekend just gone and the same with you...it couldn't have gone any worse!! I just could'nt get to grips with my nerves. I x-rayed the wrong leg even though I put the correct L marker!! I forgot to do WHO hand hygiene before urinary task (i remembered and was allowed to do after and just said I would have done this before I put gloves on lol!!) I come out of the one crying and had one more to go which is the easiest task in the world- set up drip back and calculate fluid rate (my hands were so wet from crying I couldnt get the giving set in the poxy bag!!) It would take a miracle to pass I think.

I got really really worked up over the weekend but after taking a breather- IT'S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD. If you do have to resit you will know what to expect and how to deal with it better. As someone said on here...all good nurses pass the second time :)

Chin up. All will work out
