I'm 2 years qualified and have been lucky enough to be quite stable in practice, however I'm now looking for pastures new.
I'm wondering what you all ask at you job interviews?
What are your important questions?
What's your deal breaker?

I went for an interview a couple of years ago, and in terms of distance to home - 7 minutes by car (currently doing 30 mins), it would have a been ideal. It was a smaller practice to what I was used to but modern, one of the popular franchises, but when I asked about rota pattern he couldn't give me an straight answer. Hours were important to be as I have school ages kids and a husband who works shifts. I told him what I work currently, 9.30-7 and would be happy to maintain those hours but apparently they would be 'some long shifts, some short shifts, opening up but I don't know what they would be be yet.' I asked about holidays and he laughed and commented that it was 11 months before he could finally get cover to allow his head nurse some time off. I decided that it probably wasn't the place for me!

When I was interviewing for staff, i was looking for organized, creative problem solvers who would go above and beyond for a patient. Another clinic might want someone who can sort out a severely disorganized team, so someone with outstanding people skills and significant prior experience. Their questions would be different to questions I would ask in this situation. Alternatively if the clinical standards needed improving, i'd probably ask questions about your experience in clinical audit or how you've introduced new procedures or policies in practice.

Good luck!

[/quote]

I ask the questions that I genuinely would like answers to - I just make a list of questions that are important to me (which might be totally different to anybody elses - we are all individuals). I don't like the idea of asking questions just to make you look enthusiastic - and when I have been on the other side of the table I can generally spot interviewees a mile away that use this tactic. Be original. Think about what is important about the job to you and what you would like from it

RE: What questions do you ask at a job interview?

sophie if you still have this document can you send me it too please? my email adress is gemmypie@live.co.uk
