I was going to write in an enquire further but do you think I can find that damned article now!!

This the lab tells me can occur.

The batch numbers on our last 8 cases are all the same in cats and dogs and the other six have passed.

Re: PET Passport Scheme axe???

[quote user="Dippy"]

would it also help to speak to the vaccine manufacturer to see if this is something that is likely with the Sub cut vs. I/M?

I know one of the vaccines has a much shorter time between vax and bloods than the other and have seen this cause a few upsets ( might be wrong but I think it was the vaccine that was made by Scherring and it wasnt a fault of the vaccine just the bloods werent taken as per manufacturers instructions). But if you have been using the same vax protocol for a while with just these two failures ???

Was it a new batch at all for these two cats? or have others been given the same batch and 'passed'

Re: PET Passport Scheme axe???

lab and vaccine company they may be willing to sponser a free jab to get the cover.

Re: PET Passport Scheme axe???

Will do, thanks

Re: PET Passport Scheme axe???

Ooh, not sure then. We have had three passed in the past week. All on the same vacccine batch and one was done on the same day. Is there a problem with absorbtion in the fat? Should it go I/M in this case.
On this subject has anyone had failures with the rabies blood titre? We have a owner with two fat cats that have just failed for the second time. (Vacc +blood testing). The cats are not from the same families, the only thing they have in common is that the are both 6kg+

Re: PET Passport Scheme axe???

Sorry if I'm being thick - are they suggesting there would still be passports but no 6mth waiting time or that you couldn't move animals without the old quarantine system? It seems the rest of the EU (Who are not surrounded by sea) want to greatly reduce the need for a pet passport and remove the six months waiting time. They argued that as we have already seen tick born diseases in the south coast this year that also tick and flea treatment should be abolished as there was no longer the need to protect us. All to do with money!!!

Re: PET Passport Scheme axe???

Haven't seen this but would definitely like to know more as it will be relevant to me eventually!
