J

Thanks guys! You're all very helpful :) I have an interview tomorrow so I'll see what they offer me. They're a training practice fortutunately! I'm not leaving my practice for any othe reason than that I want a bit more of a team and I want to get better skills! I just hate change and my head nurse is terrifying when angry! Aha, she said between my first and 2nd year that she didn't want to qualify me through npl cause she didn't want me to leave.. obviously she did finish it but she's very protective about keeping me and one other nurse. It makes me feel good that I'm wanted that much but one day (if not really soon) I will want to leave and it's going to be the hardest thing to tell her and the longest month! I'm sorry to hear your colleagues got nasty! I'm worried mine will too but we're such a tight group id be heartbroken if they were horrible after my decision!

Oh well, this job that's being offered offers so much more for me! And I've got another interview at a referral centre next week! So fingers crossed!

Thanks guys, hope to get it all sorted :( without my boss and nurses hating me!!

RE: Has anyone changed practices whilst in 2nd year of training? ..

Also check your contract - they might make you pay back various fees if you leave before you qualify/within a certain timeframe of qualifying. I changed practices in my second year and had to pay my first practice almost £500 when I left.

Good luck :)

i left my tp in my second year but I'd already completed my training hours so it wasn't an issue. I went to a non tp and only had my osces left to do but it wasn't a problem. Just ensure that all your paperwork is up to date before you leave as it can be difficult to get it sorted after you've left!

RE: Has anyone changed practices whilst in 2nd year of training? ..

I left my training practice in the June before I took my OSCEs in the November. Yiu just need to inform your college and they should tell the RCVS. If you are moving to a non training practice then you effectively become an ANA again until you qualify and register, something to do with it not being a training practice so you can't do any schedule 3 stuff. If you move to a training practice you still have to have a named clinical coach even though you don't have any NPL left.

I was terrified too but I just wrote my letter and just manned up. I waited for my boss to be in her office before I cornered her. I was lucky that my notice period was a week as my colleagues were pretty nasty for he last couple of days. I didn't tell my colleagues as my boss got there first.

I would like to add that it was the best decision I ever made moving from my training practice. I've experienced so much in the last year and it wouldn't have happened if I had stayed. Unfortunately you can't keep everyone happy. if she is a good friend she will understand :) good luck x
