That's what Nobivac told us to do so the pup would be fully covered for L4. It's the same with boosters for adult dogs, if they had L2 with their previous booster, they get L4 and then 4 weeks later they have another one.

because L2 covers what we need it to cover. So a second dose of L4 after 4 weeks - even if the pup would be at least 16weeks old by that time?

We use L4 and if a puppy comes for its 2nd vac and it's had L2 in the first. We give the L4 at 2nd vac stage but then they come back 4 weeks later for another L4. We use Nobivac and this is what they suggest for covering for L4 if the puppy had L2 previously. It's effectively like starting the course again as they have to have another vac 4 weeks after the 2nd one. They can go out a week after the 1st vac with L4 in but they wouldn't be fully covered for all 4 strains of Lepto. How come you guys are still using L2? We swapped over a couple of years back

We advise the same as you, that they would be covered for the L2 strains but would need an extra vacc if they wanted to be covered for L4. Seems dodgy that other practices are saying they would need to restart the whole course.
