thats a pity - just would be interesting to know if resits as a percentage have increased over the years ( I suspect they have)

they used to publish the results with those who sat RCVS exam but I have not come across the same for city and guilds. The old way showed how many sat exam and how many were first attempt etc.

I just wondered if there were any figures available for the number of resits taken over the years at different stages? Have the number of resits increased with different ways of learning and different exams? Its something that has interested me for a while.

I managed to pass 11/12 this time round and took my own advice of talking my way through everything managed 8 stations at 100% so well chuffed.

Yes talking through exactly what you are doing is a good tip! I was failed on my lab 1st time round as they said the details on the swab were different to those on paper work (even though they weren't!) so when I re-sat I literally pointed at swab and paper work and stated that the details were exactly the same on both and got examiner to look! OSCEs are so stressful but the feeling when you pass is just amazing! Don't lose heart!

I agree. the examiners decision would be final. as in what evidence could you provide to hold up your appeal. I failed my first attempt at the practicals, for similar errors. but during my preparation for the second sit. I made sure every time that I carried out a procedure I explained exactly why I was doing something. along with the reasons

Hi Guys, I sat my OSCEs when it was RCVS but it's most likely very similar. I appealed as like others have said, they marked me wrongly! You can not however, challenge an examiners judgement and so it is not worth wasting your time appealing unless you had severe issues on the day such as a fire alarm going off mid exam. I too think they should be filmed as people are human and in my opinion...examiners can make mistakes! I had to re-sit mine and passed second time but I know deep down I passed 1st time!

Did you fail any? If you failed any stations, college were sent the lest of stank and which task you didn't complete in order to fail the station. X

Out of interest how do you get your sheets back to see what you did wrong? My college just sent me a list of the tasks I did and next to it said if I passed or failed?

An examiner at CAW Huntingdon told me she had only ever heard of one student winning an appeal, as it is your word against theirs. But it is worth a go? If you do good luck. I think they should film all the OSCEs for this reason. A friend has a paramedic husband who had to do OSCEs and they were all filmed.

I apparently didn't maintain sterility on fluid therapy and glowing and gowning, I know I defiantly did and if they say I didn't I would love to know how and my mistake which I didn't notice. I made a mistake on gowning as when I picked gown up it was backwards. So I asked for another to start fresh and was correct, can only think was folded wrong.. It's so annoying, especially when your so close! I shall be re sitting in October if no appeal won!

I am the same. I failed the IM injection task only because they say I didn't shake the vial to mix the contents which I know I definitely did do. I if I had got that task I would have passed. I even managed to do tasks that I thought I had failed. Not sure if worth appealing or not
