I was just wondering how much work experience is generally necessary to land an apprenticeship? I work full time but have managed to have a weeks shadowing the nurses at a local practice. I do not have any more holiday leave left for

RE: How much experience?

Hi

the more work experience you can get the better. Could you maybe do weekends around your full time job? A lot of the nurses where I work started off as weekend helpers and gradually moved their way up. It might be worth contacting which ever college you'd do your course with to see if they have any requirements re experience prior to applying for the course, I think my college wanted a minimum of 1 week but I'd already been working in a vets for years and also completed the animal nursing assistant course which helped me no end when studying the nursing course. It's always worth sending your cv to practices in your area but make sure they are training practices as you need to be employed with one in order to do your training, the rcvs has a list on their website.

good luck and I hope this helps!
