Can anyone give me a link to the actual stainless item you use from Veterinary Instrumentation (who have a truly awful website obviously developed in 1998 with no pictures!)
every single place I have worked this has been the case - if you steam sterilise then they rust. One place I worked we used to cold sterilise in marinol and it did prevent rusting, but if contact times were not observed ? sterile. Many places use the stainless blades from VI these days with their own blade holder or a hard back saw which is also stainless.

We have tended to use the stainless from VI. At my last practice we had ethylene oxide for sterilising these and endoscopes etc.

RE: Hacksaw blades rusting in autoclave

every single place I have worked this has been the case - if you steam sterilise then they rust.
