I'm starting to get very frustrated with the cleaning standards. I have many issues but mopping is my problem of the day. For instance the front including large waiting room and three consult rooms gets

RE: Mopping!

All floors are swept and mopped twice a day.
Washing mop heads regularly is a must, as is coding of mops and cleaning materials in different areas of the practice.

To the OP - you should become the 'infection control champion' for the practice, and work on improving your practice's hygiene - take action!

RE: Mopping!

HI

After the first swabbing, the practice will then receive a guide on how to achieve and maintain a good overall biosecurity program, along with the tools to devise a ‘practice specific cleaning protocol’. A further swab test will then analyse the impact of the protocol after a period of time.

The swabs are being sent to and analysed by an independent laboratory.

Hi. We Hoover all areas . After morning consults. Then mop . Sweep after afternoon consults then mop again, and also same protocol after evening session done, the water is changed and refreshed after each clean and mop head changed every night! We have separate mop bucket n mop for theatre , kennel and reception

[/quote]This is a similar protocol for us. In addition once a week we do an extra disinfect mop with a alternative disinfectant to Trigene and once a month all floors get a work over with a hot steam cleaner.

RE: Mopping!

Hi. I've worked in clinics where they just keep using this same bucket of brown water, I'm not quite sure what they think they are achieving!

I like hoovering/sweeping at the end of consults (or inbetween depending on mess!) and at the end of the day. I change the water each time and use Trigene (or whatever it's called now) but I suppose it depends how dirty the practice gets if you'd need to change it half way through...

We also make sure there is a seperate mop for certain areas and use different coloured mop heads - this might be helpful if you find the staff go everywhere with the one mop? The mop heads got put in the washing machine at the end of the day. I suppose gold standard would be cleaning with a floor cleaner e.g. Flash or something and then going over with a disinfectant but being realistic, I don't think any clinic has the time for that!
