i have an 11year old collie cross called Noah who has developed a fear of loud noises in the last few years. I've had him since he was a 3month old pup and has not knowingly had any bad experiences with loud noises that I can recall. He's always

RE: I really need help to get my dog walking!
First get good sound behaviour advice from a qualified behaviourist.. Have them assess your dog then design a behaviour modification programme... you could try heaps of stuff ie: adaptil, calmex, anti anxiety medication, TTouch, thunder jackets etc etc but would see behaviourist first as some treatments can make matters worse, or you may need to trial different things to see what works for your dog. For my dog anti anxiety medication worked for us alongside a programme, and once she was feeling better about life i was able to wean off the drugs slowly after 18 months

I have had good success with an agoraphobic and very noise sensitive collie by staring her on Prozac. Few side effects and a wide dose range. this sounds like a severe behaviour problem and could be also due to brain aging? Selgein is also good for generalised anxiety so may work well.

RE: I really need help to get my dog walking!
thank you, I'll look into that. Hopefully it will help him! I'm taking him for a fun swim tonight which he loves and helps to keep him in shape with not walking far

I went to see a practitioner with my very nervous rescue dog and I found that it really helped her. I was able to build her confidence by using the touches and doing some of the groundwork exercises that I was shown.

I recently got a puppy and I have also taken her to a TTouch practitioner to learn techniques to deal with her mouthing and chewing and to help her develop calm behaviours
