I have a bit of a dilemma, hoping someone can help or advise..
I have three, four week old bantam/mix chicks, they are extremely cute and I have had them since hatching.
I feel kinda bad for wanting to change him

He's such a sweet little boy. I will have a long think about my options, which I know are few, and enjoy the time I have with him, before everyone on the street wants to strangle him.

A went to Spain on holiday and in a large park about half a mile down the hill from our apartment was a motley collection of rabbits, water-fowl, goats and chickens of all sizes, breed and gender. They all got along, so it seemed to me. However, the preening and strutting and, above all the crowing, from the cockerels, large and small, was of epic proportions. Not just at dawn. It was constant... I guess having 'competition' fuelled most of it, but it was very, very busy with noisiness!! However, in many ways it was lovely to hear and my hubby and I kinda got used to it but on those days when we wanted a bit of quiet reflection it was darned frustrating. I am thinking of you and your neighbours and avoiding any conflict? Aw, poor laddie - he can't escape his gender traits... (your cockerel, not any of your boy-type neighbours...hahahah!!).

Sooooo, I think POHMcB and Sal have it in one - it's the crowing that will be the fly in his ointment and will likely cause him to be shipped off somewhere else, either the local farm (per Colin leghorn) or the pot (per POHMcB).

Soz I have no remedies advice.

He ended up at the childrens farm and was very happy there.

RE: Chemical Castration of a Cockerel...
Perhaps I'm being a little over cautious and overthinking it, I just don't want him to annoy the neighbours in any way. I just want peace and harmony! Possibly too much to ask.. Animals always get me in trouble! I had a batchelor flock of about 15 until the fox got them, and I have only had one that was aggressive towards people (he ended up as dog food - sorry!). I mixed some hens in too without any aggression issues. Most of the cockerels were fine with each other. I know lots of people who keep cockerels without any aggression issues so I don't think I was particularly lucky in this respect.
