I'm having a big dilemma over jobs and looking for some (any!) advice! I've got 2 more days to make a decision and am really torn.
Current job - long hours, unsocial hours, 1 hour from home, unable to plan my life as we don't get given a

RE: Job dilemma - please help!!

Thanks all for the advice!

I've decided to accept the job

RE: Job dilemma - please help!!

go for it. I have been in the same job 25years and don't think I would have the confidence to go anywhere else !! I have worked all hours god sent in the past (and not for the pay) but because I was head nurse and thought it was my role to support all the team etc etc BUT 2.5 years ago I was diagnosed with Breast cancer luckily I have come out of it ok after surgery and a few months of treatment but it certainly made me realise that work isn't the be all and end all of life . I am no longer officially head nurse (although I feel like the nursing teams mother at times) and I was able to cut a day from my working week and OMG it has made so much difference to my home life. So all I would say is go for it, save up like hell and enjoy travelling.

Got offered a job 4 miles from home, slightly better pay and 3.5 days a week. I didn't want to leave my current colleagues but the travelling was getting me down as over an hr away since we moved in Jan. Plus the petrol costs, just couldn't afford it anymore as had to take out an unexpected home improvement loan as found dry rot. It wasn't an easy decision but I hope I've made the right one.

RE: Job dilemma - please help!!

maybe might have been better for your current practice if you had spoken about this to them before they took on 2 students for you to coach? So from what you have written it really wouldn't be of any consequence if the 'new' practice is a training practice or not because you don't plan on staying there either and that would leave them in the same situation as the current practice if you decided to take the job - ie looking for a replacement who also coaches. So to me from what you have written the student coaching isn't and issue. Perhaps you might be better doing locum work until you travel?

I believe in seizing opportunities as they arise but you have to be fair to the people you work alongside as well.

RE: Job dilemma - please help!!

I guess only you can make this decision...but talking helps! Maybe it would be worth talking it over with your current team first- they may be able to arrange hours etc to help keep you if you really want to stay there. If you are not really happy then sometimes it is better to go before it starts to wear you down and effect the way you work.

Good luck with whatever decision you come to x

RE: Job dilemma - please help!!

I had to make a similar decision!
