Wondering which disinfectant you prefer? We are currently using Anigene HLD4V. I've used Safe4 and Anistel in previous practices.
I've trying to find studies that compare the most common veterinary disinfectants but there's not much

RE: Which disinfectant?

sorry but it just made me chuckle thinking about it

but seriously
also student vets loved to use it on the examination tables, after time we noticed this to eat the rubber matting.
I had this problem a lot at one place and wasn't just student vets. Trying to get through to people that bleach is inactivated by organic material and making it stronger can reduce its effectiveness was pretty much impossible, and dont even get me started on using Savlon in buckets and spray bottles for cleaning - local GP took a while to work out why the nurses in our vet practice at the time had an almost 100% incidence of contact dermatitis

RE: Which disinfectant?

LOL OK OK..I know what you mean, however I know as nurses that we would not use bleach in specific areas. however where I have worked some staff loved to have a lovely bleached waiting room say a cup full of bleach to a bucket of water. also student vets loved to use it on the examination tables, after time we noticed this to eat the rubber matting.

RE: Which disinfectant?

Hey everyone.

Thanks for getting back to me. Sorry it's taken so long for me to reply.

I've done some research and from what I can see, both anigene and anistel cover a lot of the same things with regards to small animal nasty's. However, anistel seems to have better virucidal and myobactericidal ranges.

Anigene has a good range of disinfectant properties for large animal, avian and exotic patients. Might be worth knowing for NPL students.

Going to make a switch to Anistel.

Thanks for input everyone. Much appreciated!

RE: Which disinfectant?
With the bleach i was always told "this kills and whitens the surface pathogens. but because there is no detergent action this will not penetrate through debris. also there is a tendency to actually enhance the odours of urine. along with potentially burning the paws
never noticed an enhanced smell of pee in the staff loos and unless the staff are running around in there with bare feet (and if they are what the hell are they up to?) or animals are rising Lazarus like from the freezer down the bodyshop and going walkabouts at night when nobody is there I dont think I am going to see many burnt paws (or feet!) - sorry not really being facetious but the pictures your post brings up when related to the areas we use bleach in the practice I work in I just had to lol.

I dont use it in areas that live animals have access to (unless we are counting some of the humans)

RE: Which disinfectant?
this is a strange one to decipher As Anigene and trigene have the same Logo and medi-mark contact address. however in 2012 the tristel company was set up and anistel was the renaming of trigene (After ending a supply agreement). however anigene (aka trigene in my eyes as it has the original logo) is still supplied and manufactured!

suppose its all swings and roundabouts.
but Anistel has the same dilution as the old Trigene and Anigene doesn't unless that has changed recently. Would pick Anistel over Anigene any day but as you say swings and roundabouts and each to their own. I didn't like the dirty marketing with Anigene it put me off the product and the company completely
