We don't have this legislation with our local authority, sounds a little mickey mouse to me. Only staff training we have on taking pets home is ensuring clients are made aware RE: location and depth.

Possibly a localized interpretation of the law thing. I'm sure it's to do with DEFRA and non pet animals e.g horses and livestock, but remember it from years ago so it may not even be relevant now due to EU law taking over.

Definitely not to do with cats or small pets!

I hadn't heard of that - is it by any chance a local regulation? Occasionally town councils have very strange rules!

I think some horses may be subject to this charge (depending on council and circumstances) as they aren't classified as pets and you need to discuss with council (paperwork involved etc) but certainly not a cat. Is it a mixed practice? Maybe staff getting confused.
