&lt;p&gt;If things are really bothering you that much then you need to speak out. Otherwise it carries on to the point that you don&amp;#39;t enjoy your job. Communication issues are a big problem in most practices because nobody wants to speak up. A lot of students will find their day to day work is assisting VNs/Vets, especially if your practice is working within Sch3 remits. What sort of things do you want to do? As a second year you should be able to do independant working but bear in mind a lot of it will be under supervision legally (bloods/catheter placement etc all require the SVN to be supervised) so you won&amp;#39;t fully be able to take on the responsibility.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Once you qualify and move on, practices are aware that other places may have different protocols and habits so this will be allowed for. I think once you qualify also, you do feel different in areas that you might not have felt confident in before as a student, you do then because it has been proved you can do it! &lt;/p&gt;
