I will apply my application for registration soon but it take times for that, and I think I have to undertake exams to be registered. I am now finding a full time or Locum job

RE: Oversea qualified Nurse seeking job

Hello Peggie,

As mentioned in the previous post you cannot work in the capacity of an RVN until you are registered- depending on where you have graduated from and whether the RCVS have accredited your nursing qualification as comparable to the UK's- it is not country specific by the way- but the specific college or university you have trained through will depend on how long it takes, and whether you are required to sit practical and written exams in order to become registered. You will need to contact the RCVS to find this out. If your qualification is deemed comparable it can take as little as 6 weeks form start to finish. In the mean time you would have to work as a lay member of staff.

Do feel free to contact me to discuss what areas you are looking at and when you are coming over and we would be happy to discuss your options in greater depth. My email address is jlewis@glvets.com or call me on 0044 1291 645 871.

RE: Oversea qualified Nurse seeking job

Where abouts are you overseas? I place candidates who are not yet registered as long as they agree to get registered once they are employed

RE: Oversea qualified Nurse seeking job

You could offer to work as a care assistant to get experience? If the adverts want an RVN it's for the legal parts of the job that only an RVN can do. Until you get on the register you are classed in the UK as a 'lay person' I.e. Meaning no legal right to do certain things In terms of animal care.

getting UK experience could also help you in the exams you need to sit as you will meet others who have been through the RCVS exams and could help you.
