I think leaving it open may encourage more to contribute, as they can clearly discuss anything related to nursing, but maybe having some sub-catagories may spark more interest and ideas? Not sure!

I will endeavour to get involved - am catching up on a million things this week and then away for a few days, but I will return!

The analgesia/anaesthesia topic that I added to was simply because I wasnted a question answered - the whole point in EBVM after all - but there's a million things I can think of that I'd like to have a knowledge summary for!!

RE: RCVS Knowledge group - veterinary nursing

Hi Jill,

Thanks for the support! We really would like more nurses to become involved. I know that the lack of time is our biggest challenge, but if more people are involved, then they don't need to devote lots of time to it. At the moment I think we need to sort out what vet nurses would like to get from this? I think it needs to be relevant to practice - not something purely for academia. You've mentioned analgesia - is analgesia / anaesthesia the best place to start? The way the groups have been divided up means that subjects could fall under the remit of nursing, or something else - anaesthesia for example. Is nursing too big a topic? There will always be some overlap between the groups and I think a nursing perspective is needed. What does everyone else think?

Some of the American Technicians are involved on the RCVS forum - they are looking for comments about what evidence based medicine means to veterinary nurses as they are writing an article for the NAVTA journal - anyone have any thoughts?

RE: RCVS Knowledge group - veterinary nursing

Hi Mary, I'm already in - didn't know you were chair! I really must find some time to post on the forums - am also hoping to do a Knowledge Summary on rabbit NSAIDs... am a bit nervous but Laura has been really helpful, and the toolkits are excellent.

I would also encourage all nurses to get involved - EBVM is not just about vets - we as nurses must have an input too, and it really is a fantastic project with loads of support from Knowledge....
