just wondering if anyone has any/knows where I can get info about working as a nurse in New York. Would love to move there but I've heard there is an extra exam to do to work as a 'vet tech'. Any help would really be appreciated.

http://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/vetmed/vtlic.htm are the licensing requirements for New York state; you may be able to get employment as an unlicensed tech (similar to performing nursing tasks but not being an RVN over here) however pay rates are lower for unlicensed. The United States (and to be fair, there are 50 sets of rules) does NOT accredit or recognize foreign degrees unless they are recognized by the AVMA.

Canada is different; some provinces do a case-by-case review of vet nurse applications to give them VT status in Canada.

http://www.nysavt.org/ the New York State Association of Vet Techs may be able to offer more specific advice, but other than 'it's not going to be easy' i can't be more specific about New York.

Good luck!

Cheers,
Mark
