I'm ex-V4P and I totally agree it depends on the team & JVP.

Unfortunately the team I had were not so great so I left after 3 months, but I locum at another branch and absolutely love it!

I think the "corporate fear" is long gone these days! I haven't ever had any bad feedback about Vets4Pets in particular, just some nurses prefer a small family run practice over corporate :)

I felt exactly the same have worked in private practices for 10 years then a vet I used to work with asked me to come and work for him at v4p I started on 20.4 and tbh the people I work with are great and I'm really enjoying the job and the perks also help discount at pets @home lol I asked questions about changing from private practice and if I'm honest I have found the feeliing is the same as a private practice just with added perks!

I agree with all that suz 85 said.

You do get the backup of a big business, but with the independence of a 'self-contained' practice. It really does depend on your JVP and team. I would have been hesitant in the past to work for V4P, but wouldn't hesitate now (as long as the JVP and team were right :))

Some stuff can be frustrating - such as IT support, the computer system, too many promotions etc - but that's no diff to any practice.

I have worked for Vets4pets twice now, it seems to be a good corporate to be with. Good benefits with CPD allowance and 20% off at PAH and in the surgery. I have also worked for CVS (when I was a student) this was also a good experience.

I do, and have been working for them for 3 years, since my practice opened, and enjoy it 99% of the time (same as any other job I suppose) They are all very different from one another, as it really does depend on the staff, my JVP is great, really encourages nurse clinics, CPD, and generally bettering outselves. We hold regular clinical meetings where the nurses input is as valued as the vets and hold monthly practice meetings for everyone to attend. We all get on really well and it makes it a nice environment to work.

They are good in the sense of you have help on hand from IT support etc and a huge network of nurses to ask questions to if needed, have big CPD budgets and lots of CPD and social events throughout the year. The practices tend to be lovely, purpose built, big and clean and spacious.

To be honest, the majority of the time, I forget we are working for a "corporate" brand, and it just feels like any other vets. The downside is, as a big company, if anything happens anywhere in the company, we are all tarred with same brush!

20% off at PAH is fab for me :)

I am ex V4P and have also worked a few other corporates - there are a few threads on the search which will cover a lot of what you need to know. Just on my way to work at the mo so not able to post a long answer but have a quick look on search
