Hey there,

I looked through the course, and it seems like they won't accept my application if I'm not employed already, or volunteering in a veterinary practice. Which made me realise, that probably this is how I should start the whole thing, trying to find a place where I can work as a volunteer (RSPCA I was thinking) and then consider finding, and paying for a course, that is recognised.

Thanks a lot, I will definitely give a detailed look at this course as well, and I'm trying to find a voluntary work at the same time. Unfortunatety I don't understand completely the accreditation system in this country, (it's becoming clearer though) I want to consider every opinion and deicide very carefully of what I will get involved with.

It seems like I need a bit more than a course what I can finish in a few moths, I'm trying to find some time off from my busy schedule to get some practical experience. :)

And that is pretty much which happened and still happens

In the states of Nevada and Colorado according to the certificates I hold I am entitled to call myself Dr!

but that isnt to say there aren't some very good online courses available and if the material supplied is of a good standard ( but you have to sift through a whole bunch that aren't to find a good one)and it isnt costing an arm and a leg its worth doing some of them as background learning until something more suitable becomes available- just as long as you realise that many of them aren't recognised. If you get the chance tho and you are spending money on it go for something accredited by a recognised body

The content of the course looks quite interesting and varied, but unfortunately as a "qualification" it won't be worth the paper the certificate/diploma is printed on. The ICI is not an academic organisation and the IAPCC which "accredits" the course is not an officialy recognised body (regardless of the organisations they claim have used there courses) - basically anyone can set up a "college" and award "certificates or diplomas".

Have a a look at your local further education or agricultural college for part time courses.

Hi Renata,

I can't say I have ever heard of Pet care/vet assistant certificate before. I trained as a VN at the college of animal welfare and I worked with a lady who was doing the Veterinary Care Assistant course through them. She said it was great and would thoroughly recommend it. You can do it online which costs more.
