My neighbours dogs have chased my cats a couple of times in the past - usually when they are still on leads & the stupid woman cannot hold onto them (fat JRT & a basenji). That pissed me off enough, but I have let it go. Then the other day they were out with the dog off lead again and the dog chased my cat across my garden and almost into my house. My husband was stood in our doorway (we were just heading out) and he kicked the dog to stop it getting into the house after the terrified cat.

Quite frankly I expected an apology from them, but no- she shouted "Don't you kick my dog" and told me it was natural for dogs to chase cats! I was furious and let rip, informing her (and the rest of the street!) that if I ever saw the dog out again off lead I would report her to the police for having a dog dangerously out of control in a public place.

Did the trick. They always keep it under control now and don't let it chase everyones cats up and down the street.

Re: Not normally a violent person....

I would have done and felt the same. But we here in SA take them out when walking our dogs as sooooo many stupid dog owners dont keep their gates closed and often you land up fighting off a horrid beast in order to protect your own dog whilst out walking... And this is a situation where i would use this on someone elses dogs. But the UK is a far cry different to SA...

Re: Not normally a violent person....

Hi catwomen......... how are you now, have you calmed down yet?

I would probably have done the same as you, so dont feel bad about it. One of my neighbours dogs killed one of my cats years ago.... an unruly GSD who was never on a lead, and he encouraged it to chase the cats too (total idiot of a man), so he was given more than a few choice words from me when that happened. Thankfully the halfwit moved soon afterwards.

Hope your kitty is ok though
